conducted at the Department of Vegetable and Alternative Crops<strong>\u00a0<\/strong> is vegetable and alternative crop breeding, the development of new cultivars and hybrids of vegetables and alternative crops, the development of cultivation technology and seed production.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The vegetable crop genetics and breeding program consists of:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>development of genotypes of vegetable crops with high nutritional value \u200b\u200band wide adaptability,\u00a0suitable for open-field or protected space production<\/li>\n<li>development of vegetable cultivars and hybrids highly tolerant to biotic and abiotic stress<\/li>\n<li>development of specific cultivation technology suitable for different production systems and uses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The alternative crop genetics and breeding program includes<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>breeding sorghum cultivars and hybrids for herbicide resistance<\/li>\n<li>breeding high-yielding, high-quality and adaptable varieties of industrial hemp, pumpkin and squash, millet, buckwheat, phacelia, flax and tobacco<\/li>\n<li>research on medicinal, aromatic and spice plants and their products<\/li>\n<li>research related to genetics, physiology of growth and development of vegetable and alternative crops<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The vegetable and alternative crop <strong>seed production<\/strong> includes monitoring, approbation,\u00a0processing and packaging.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The vegetable and alternative crop <strong>growing technology<\/strong> includes the development of cultivation technology, timely sowing and planting dates, as well as using adequate cultivation practices, mineral fertilization and plant protection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Plant material quality control includes analyses of field, vegetable and alternative crops and products in the Institute
